Food as Medicine

Holistic Nutrition considers an individual’s health as a combination of mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and environmental factors.

My program

Mainstream medicine too often looks at a one-size fits all model of nutrition but each person’s health is unique. Holistic nutrition is about eating foods that will not only fuel your body, but also impact your body’s function positively to help support an optimal state. My program includes mindful eating strategies and personalised nutrition plans for energy and performance, weight management, gut health, detoxification and cognitive support.

I avoid the notion of ‘diets’ and encourage eating that works for you on a cellular level, taking into account gender, age, lifestyle and your specific goals.

Never boring

Healthy eating should be anything but boring! Nutrition plans might include seasonal and/or organic fruit, vegetables and produce, local, high welfare and grass-fed meat, minimum wholegrains, healthy fats, delicious alternatives to processed sugar and more….all combined in recipes that appeal to you and your available time.

Whether your goal is to enhance your sports performance or to lose or gain weight, I can help. Additionally, if you’re dealing with issues like IBS, bloating, a skin condition, lethargy or indigestion, I can also help.

Do get in touch to tell me about what challenges you’re facing and any goals you have in mind.

A Tailored Approach

An off-the-shelf diet written by some ‘guru’ might work in the short term but it’s not a long term strategy. A successful and sustainable weight loss is one that supports a homeostatis state of the body in which the internal environment is stable and constant.

At the moment, for example, plant-based diets are popular. And while industrial farming, and its many negatives, means you might want to consider a reduction in your meat consumption, it’s not quite that simple.

You see, weight loss isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. My holistic approach considers a smart training and eating programme that’s dependent on multiple factors that are usually overlooked in traditional, and recent, weight loss programs. The concept of Metabolic Typing – how gender, ethnicity, oxidative levels, toxicity, lifestyle, thoughts, and other genetic traits could directly affect the muscle to fat ratio – is one approach to weight management I like to explore.
